MIDI
Use your keyboard, guitar, launchpad, and more with Nexus!
Nexus has support for MIDI devices out of the box, with no additional configuration. To use a MIDI device with Nexus, simply plug it into your computer, and then launch Nexus.
Getting Started With MIDI
Below is a guide that will walk you through the basics of using MIDI and Nexus together, as well as some information about how to interface with some common MIDI devices and DAWs such as Cubase, Ableton Live, and TouchOSC.
Getting Started with MIDI and Nexus
We recommend launching Nexus last, after connecting the devices, so that we can detect them successfully. You may encounter issues on Windows if other programs on your computer are actively using your MIDI devices at the same time as Nexus.
The MIDI channel values in Nexus are 0-15. Most MIDI software and hardware define MIDI channel values as 1-16. This is true for the channel values of both Notes and Control Changes. This means that setting a channel to 0 in Nexus is equal to 1 in most other devices and software’s. The Nexus team intends to change the values internally to be 1-16 in a future update. (Update timeline TBD)
