MIDI Trigger: Start

The Start trigger is a MIDI-based input. It detects when a MIDI Start message is received from the specified MIDI device.

The Start message is sent when a master MIDI device, such as a sequencer or drum machine, presses the Play button. The Start message puts the slave device in ‘play mode’. The slave device will start playback after receiving the next MIDI Clock message.

A slave device might receive (from a master device) a Select message to cue a specific song to play (out of several songs), a Position message to cue that song to start on a particular beat, a MIDI Continue in order to start playback from that beat, periodic MIDI Clocks in order to keep the playback in sync with the master, and eventually a MIDI Stop to halt playback.
